3D Scatter Plot

3D Scatter Plot brings a third measure to the scatter plot, in a real 3D axis box that you rotate and zoom directly inside your dashboard. Where a standard scatter plot stops at two measures, this one adds depth, so relationships that stay hidden in two dimensions become visible at a glance.

Key features

Drag a measure to each of X, Y, and Z, and every row of your data becomes a point in the 3D axis box; add a measure to Size and a dimension to Detail for sized, colored points.

Getting started

• Open a worksheet in Tableau 2024.2 or later, and add 3D Scatter Plot Trex from the Marks card (Viz Extensions).
• Drag a measure to each of X, Y, and Z. Optionally, drag a measure to Size, and a dimension to Detail to color the points by category.
• On Tableau Desktop, no account is needed: 3D Scatter Plot works right away.
• To use it on Tableau Server or on your company's Tableau Cloud site, create a free Dataskera account at https://www.dataskera.com and keep using 3D Scatter Plot at no cost.
• Open the configuration dialog to adjust colors, shapes, axes, legend, and tooltips.

Rendering happens entirely in your browser. The extension reads only summary data from your worksheet and never sends your data anywhere.
