Waffle Chart

Waffle Chart displays categorical proportions as a grid of colored squares, making part-to-whole comparisons easy to read at a glance. It is a strong alternative to pie charts when you have a handful of categories and want precise, countable proportions instead of angles.

Getting started

1. Open a worksheet in Tableau 2024.2 or later, and add Waffle Chart Trex from the Marks card (Viz Extensions).
2. Drag a dimension to Category and a measure to Value.
3. On Tableau Desktop, no account is needed: Waffle Chart is free and works right away.
4. To use it on Tableau Server or on your company's Tableau Cloud site, create a free Dataskera account at https://dataskera.com/subscribe and keep using Waffle Chart at no cost.
5. Open the configuration dialog to adjust colors, shapes, legend, and tooltips.

Rendering happens entirely in your browser. The extension reads only summary data from your worksheet and never sends your data anywhere. Dataskera collects nothing beyond the account information needed for licensing. For Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud administrators.
